Dongying is the central city of the Yellow River Delta, established in October 1983. Dongying has established one nature reserve, 9 provincial wetland parks, and 59 wetland protection areas, gradually building a natural protection system centered around nature reserves, wetland parks, and wetland protection areas.

Since 2018, the “Dongying Wetland Protection Regulations”, “Dongying Coastal Protection Regulations”, “Dongying Wetland City Construction Regulations”, and “Dongying Yellow River Delta Ecological Protection and Restoration Regulations” have been successively enacted, forming a comprehensive and scientifically standardized legal system for wetland protection. We have comprehensively compiled the “Dongying Land Spatial Master Plan”, guiding and optimizing the new pattern of land use protection. Currently, a total of 3,467 square kilometers of ecological protection red lines have been designated, accounting for 27.1% of the city’s total area. We have systematically formulated the “Dongying Wetland Protection Plan”, “Dongying Central City Wetland Protection Plan”, and “Dongying Land Spatial Ecological Restoration Plan”, aiming to build an ecological security pattern of “one park, two belts, and multiple corridors”, promoting the sustainable utilization of wetland resources. We have established a four-level forest wetland stewardship system at the city, county, township, and village levels.
