The Dongbaekdongsan Wetland Center, established in 2015, aims to spread awareness of the value of wetlands and their wise use. The center is operated by ‘Social Cooperative Seonheulgot’, a non-profit village community established by local residents to participate in the conservation of Dongbaekdongsan Wetland and foster the 6th industry through ecotourism. It provides tour guides and interpreters, experience programs and wetland promotion is being carried out.

In order to increase awareness of the value of wetlands, Jeju City has developed its own educational program and has operated on-site education for local residents and provincial residents as well as a permanent wetland school in connection with the Office of Education, and a wetland visit program.

Also, Jeju City raised the awareness of the Dongbaekdongsan Wetland internationally through activities to restore endangered species in cooperation with other organizations and public diplomacy activities linked to the Jeju-Bhutan Ramsar Wetland.

To form a wetland conservation network among young people and expand the role of wetland conservation and future generations, the ‘2024 World Wetland Cities Youth Forum’ was held for the first time in Jeju City to increase young people’s understanding of wetlands. Efforts were made to strengthen the role of Jeju City in wetland conservation and achieve meaning as a Wetland City.

In addition, we produce promotional videos for wetlands in multiple languages, operate a wetland city blog, and provide information and value about wetlands through various media such as social networks. Additionally, targeting general public, the Ramsar Wetland City is being promoted by displaying images of the animals and plants that inhabit Dongbaekdongsan Wetland and promotional phrases at bus stops.
